Community Experience

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi

The greatest lesson we have learned is that the impact of our approach to learning is diminished if it is not reinforced in the child’s home and community. We have learned that partnering with the school community and empowering the voices of our parents helps to inform and further strengthen our programming. Both the community and parents have played a crucial role in advancing the program not only in funding but serving in committee and volunteering positions. Utilizing feedback from schools, parents, and community, our program is able to build on our strong points and narrow our focuses to deliver every part of our mission. As well as partnering with the School District of Philadelphia, OPEX Park teams with members and organizations in various communities to bring our program goals to life. The community is a crucial part of who OPEX Park serves!

We recognize the vast difference in opportunities that are presented to our BIPOC children. We intend to extend the range of possibilitie s for our children and ultimately cultivate a new love and passion by introducing new concepts, ideas and activities. Purposefully, we deliver a program directed towards black and brown children to discover new doors of opportunities through creative experiences.

OPEX Park hosts workshops, training and fundraising events in an effort to facilitate our program and bring one of a kind curated experiences to schools across the Philadelphia area.

Over the past seven years, our program has been generously funded by the community and parents of our schools. One of the thriving programs is located at the Albert M. Greenfield school located in Philadelphia Pa. The Home and School Association of the Greenfield school raises over ONE-HUNDRED thousand dollars per school year to help fund and keep the program.
